Our village is situated on a peninsula surrounded by the Waitemata Harbour, scene of the world's greatest sailing and home of the America's Cup. It is a great place to relax on holiday or after a hard day’s business. It has excellent beaches for swimming, many parks, panoramic views from extinct volcanos, a maori / military fort, history, a naval base, an attractive village, shopping, restaurants, a movie theatre, library, art galleries, museums, the historic Esplanade Hotel, homestay, bed and breakfast, motel, houses, gardens, parks, history, a golf course and almost every other sports facility. You do not need a car as this is a safe, compact and very picturesque place to explore by foot.
North Shore City, centred in Takapuna 6 km away, offers a
wide range of facilities, experiences and activities. It boasts beautiful beaches, coastlines, parks, native bush, and
other excellent sports facilities. Shopping
malls, markets, an active arts community, superb accommodation choices and
a relaxed beachfront café culture makes it a place to enjoy life.
A gateway through which you can explore Auckland and beyond. North Shore City operates Visitor Information
Centres behind the Library on the village waterfront just across from the
ferry terminal, and also in Takapuna. The
staff there will give you history, holiday advice and help you book accommodation,
hotel, motel, homestay, bed and breakfast, B&B, travel and the many other
tourist activities you can enjoy here, on The Shore, Auckland or throughout
New Zealand.
