I am Peter Goldsbury, and I look forward to being your host. My family and friends welcome you to Devonport. Make us your base to explore our locality, Auckland and New Zealand.

We have a spacious colonial home situated close to the village, in by far the most attractive, historical, artistic, funloving, relaxed, central and generally classy seaside suburb right in the centre of Auckland City.

Whether you are on holiday or business, why stay in an inner CBD hotel, motel, lodgings or apartment that makes every city feel the same when you can enjoy the ultimate Kiwi experience. Bring your family group, children and friends (or golf clubs) to make a new home. We are just a relaxing ten minute ferry ride to Downtown Auckland. For families on the move, we offer self contained fully furnished short term executive accommodation.

Aniwaniwa is the Maori word for a rainbow or the halo or ring surrounding heavenly bodies. We want to share that with you.
What we offer? A unique Kiwi homestay experience for visitors to the city who want to be guests in part of our restored and extended NZ kauri villa (1895 vintage). We particularly welcome families with children or other groups who want somewhere they can relax and be themselves, using us as a base for business, pleasure or exploration of our beautiful city, country and to experience nature at its best. Read what guests have written in our visitors book You have a private living area at the rear of our house that includes one double bedroom, one twin bedroom and a private bathroom, all off a large family room that opens onto sunny decks overlooking our garden of native NZ trees (around 100 unique species) and swimming pool. We can also offer a further twin bedroom and quiet office space and a cot if required. We can normally find extra beds if they are needed. See a Floorplan and photograhic tour of our house garden and pool. We only have one rule: That we respect each other. We offer you privacy and relaxation in a typical kiwi house after long days exploring, and we may require the same after working all day. Ours is a totally smokefree house. (Please note: Our homestay does not cater for overseas students) Teas, coffee, snacks and breakfast are there for you to help yourself in your own time. You are free to use anything in our kitchen to prepare your own meals tidying up behind you, or you can choose to eat out in one of the excellent restaurants in our historic village just 5 minutes stroll away. Our Laundry and all our other facilities are available for your use. Everything (except your toothbrush), is provided to allow you to move in and relax.

Our current tariff per night is NZ $80 for the first person, NZ $40 for extra adults and NZ$20 for extra children. This includes Goods and Services Tax. We accept advance bookings for a minimum stay of three nights, family weddings etc, but do take shorter bed and breakfast (B&B) or casual bookings if we are free, so please ask. We do not normally have more than one group staying at a time, but do sometimes double up for short periods for small groups whose bookings overlap.
For parents who seek a break away from their young children, we can recommend the local nanny service or suggest babysitters. Winter Period stays - We are often available for longer term stays in winter for executive families on assignment or transfer. Why is Devonport so special?
